Ramsey House

A warm welcome awaits you at Ramsey House in peaceful St Davids, at the heart of Pembrokeshire. Ramsey House offers you the ideal combination of professional hotel management and the warmth of a luxury 5 star family-run boutique bed and breakfast in both accommodation and fine dining, to the highest standards. Owners Shaun and Suzanne Ellison are proud of their very special guest-house. All rooms and bathrooms at Ramsey House are furnished in a 'Boutique Hotel' style, with every aspect of your stay carefully considered, and every item sourced with luxury in mind. We have many years experience in the hospitality business and pride ourselves in combining this expertise with a warm and relaxed ambience for your stay with us. Ramsey House makes a marvellous centre for whatever activity or pastime you may wish to pursue - although sitting back and reading your favourite author in our peaceful lounge or on the beach is also considered an 'activity' in our eyes! We are just a gentle stroll away from the centre of Britain's smallest city, St David's, with its wealth of history and legend - from St Non (mother of St David), through Viking raids, to the amazing 12th century Cathedral and Bishops Palace - all awaiting your visit. Or walk the beautiful countryside that surrounds us and marvel at the abundance of flora and fauna - or join one of the several boat trips that venture out around the Pembrokeshire Islands which are host to some of the most important and exciting nature reserves in Europe. Or enjoy a round of golf at one of the many and varied courses that are in the area. We will be delighted to advise you on the many activities available and make the necessary bookings and arrangements, should you wish. We are here to ensure that you enjoy your stay with us to the full. We will cater for your every wish, whether you plan to walk the nearby Coast Path with its magnificent vistas across the bay, or you just want to relax in our comfortable lounge and take tea in the garden, it's all fine with us. We would also be delighted to provide you with that extra extravagance for special occasions, just let us know in advance what you would like - champagne and lobster's good! Our three double and three twin rooms are all you would expect from a modern, yet extremely comfortable, luxury guest-house - and then some more. All first floor rooms have stunning views, either out to sea, across the adjacent picturesque countryside or overlooking the world famous St Davids Cathedral. Our ground floor rooms have views across our well-kept and enclosed gardens and are perfect for guests who don't wish to climb stairs. Our relaxed atmosphere combined with personal service and superb cuisine is enjoyed by our many guests who come back time and again to stay with us. Why not come and try us? Local Attractions:
Ramsey House is within easy walking distance of St Davids, Britain's smallest city which is only the size of a large village with just 2000 residents. This is Wales' spiritual home, with its magnificent Cathedral and the remains of the Bishop's Palace standing as a testament to St Davids religious importance. It is surrounded by some of the most beautiful and unspoilt coastal scenery in Europe. St Bride's Bay, sheltered on both sides by protective peninsulas, encloses a great choice of places to visit from the quaint harbour at Solva to the impressive expanse of Newgale Beach. There are picturesque little coves at Nolton and Little Haven, wide sandy beaches at Broad Haven and Druidstone and rocky, isolated inlets at St Brides and Martins Haven. Our Top 10 Must See and Do's 1. St Davids Cathedral and stop for coffee at the cafe overlooking the newly refurbished Cloisters. 2. Whitesands Bay recently voted one of the Top 10 Beaches of the World by a UK Broadsheet. While there, why not climb Carn Llidi a haul, but worth it for the stunning views all around the coastline around St David's peninsula. 3. Walk the Coast Path stunning at any time of year, and so much diversity, flora and fauna! We have too many highlights though to list just one here...St David's Head? Caerfai to Solva? Porthclais to St Justinians? You can't go wrong... 4. For the brave try Coasteering pioneered in St Davids by TYF Adventure! Work your way around the coastline by climbing, swimming and jumping around the cliffs - utterly exhilarating!! Also try climbing, surfing and kayaking. 5. Take an invigorating RIB (rigid inflatable boat), or relaxing regular boat trip around Ramsey Island. Birdlife, seals, hidden coves await you. In particular, puffins can be seen off the mainland around June, and baby seals in September. Whale watching trips are also spectacular. However all trips are very weather and tide dependant, so we recommend booking early in case of rescheduling. 6. Visit Abereiddy and see the Blue Lagoon - an old sunken quarry which is turned a stunning turquoise colour in summer. See the locals jump from the high walls into the deep pool, and then wander along the Coast Path to Porthgain for a pub lunch in The Sloop Inn, a very popular pub in this picturesque and historic tiny harbour. 7. For thrill seekers, a visit to Oakwood Theme Park, about 40 minutes drive away is a must. The UK's largest wooden rollercoaster is here, along with many other exciting rides. Next door to Oakwood is our other 'Blue Lagoon' - a year round indoor water park with shoots, outdoor elevated viewing pools, wave machines and a lazy river. 8. Melin Tregwynt, a woollen mill on the A487 to Fishguard is a traditional mill with a modern twist, they sell their beautiful blankets in Selfridges, but also have an on-site shop offering 10% discounts. 9. St Non's Chapel - walking distance from Ramsey House, and the birthplace of St David. See the healing well that erupted from the sea when he was born, and the ruins of the chapel built in honour of St Non, his mother. 10. St Justinians is not only the departure point for the Ramsey Island boat trips, but also a place of exceptional tides - the 'Bitches' is a treacherous stretch of water with strong cross-currents between the island and the mainland. The RNLI lifeboat station is situated here, and worth a visit - lucky visitors may even see a launch! Seals can often be seen below the coastal path, and across the sea on the coves of Ramsey.
